This "Tiny Beach House On The Water" is the perfect place to stay if you are in need of a vacation. There is nothing better than this cute tiny house situated right on the beach.
This tiny beach house on the water is situated on the shoreside on beautiful Orcas Island. For those not familiar, Orcas Island is one of the larger San Juan Islands which are located in the Northwest corner of Washington State. Orcas Island is not named for the orca whale, but for this ”Juan Vicente de Güemes Padilla Horcasitas y Aguayo, 2nd Count of Revillagigedo, the Viceroy of Mexico” he was know to send an exploration expedition to the Pacific Northwest in 1791. This tiny house is a welcoming little cabin called The Boathouse. This is actually a vacation rental cabin situated right on the beach of a protected bay. The online brochure states that you’ll be able to step off your spacious deck onto Orcas’ finest nobank, smooth pebble beach, you’re truly just a couple strides from high tide, sounds perfect! This tiny house was an actual boathouse for a resort at one time. Then the owner, Mike Fischer, re-imagined it into an environmentally friendly hideaway. There is custom made furniture throughout the tiny beach house, including a headboard made of teak reclaimed from an old boat. The cabin is a very private spot decorated with beach stone door knobs and hooks, and aged rough sawn millwork. There are water views from every angle of this lovely tiny beach house on the water.
The small house movement also known as the tiny house movement, is a famous description for the architectural and social movement that advocates living simply in small homes. In the United States the average size of new single family homes grew from 1,780 square feet in 1978 to 2,479 square feet in 2007, and to 2,662 square feet in 2013, despite a decrease in the actual size of the average family. Reasons for this include increased material wealth and prestige. The tiny house movement is a return to houses of less than 1,000 square feet. Frequently the distinction is made between small between 400 square feet and 1,000 square feet, and tiny houses that are less than 400 square feet, with some houses as small as 80 square feet. Downsizing to a tiny house is a great way to do away with large mortgages, hydro bills and all the stuff that goes into a large house, and a way to live a more sustainable lifestyle.
