All of a sudden, people are wild about barn-styled homes! Thereís something so nostalgically beautiful and downright practical about living in a barn home, especially one that is multi-purposed and multifunctional like the Rancho Milagro in Taos, New Mexico. The Rancho Milagro is a barn that has been converted into a gorgeous home away from home, but thatís not all Ė it still doubles as a fully-functional barn, housing up to four horses. Yep, thatís right, itís got a luxurious two-bedroom apartment up top and happy, pampered horses down below Ė itís the ideal house for anyone who loves the equestrian life. From the outside, this beautiful barn-ranchhouse is beautiful to behold. With its rustic, natural-looking wood, its gables on the roof, its spacious lower and upper decks, itís absolutely stunning. Weíd be happy just to linger here all day long, sitting on the lower deck, sipping sweet tea and enjoying all of the horse activities. Thereís even a small paddock attached to the front end, where the donkey loves to hang out.

And speaking of donkeys and horses, letís check out the lower area first. If you simply slide open the door, you will wander into a breezeway complete with the gentle sounds of horses. You can visit the four horses in their large, comfy stalls. Each stall has the same efficient sliding door theme, so you will never have to worry about getting slammed with one, and neither will the horses. Thereís also a very spacious tack room and a half bathroom so you can wash up after grooming, exercising, and riding the horses. Youíll also be pleased to know thereís solar-powered radiant heat down here too! Thank you DC Builders for taking good care of the environment and using sustainable energy whenever you can.

Once you enter the living space above, you wonít believe you are in the same place! Itís a different world up here. With a fourteen-foot high ceiling and what seems like two thousand windows, the Great Room is a great room indeed. Everything up here is open-concept except for the Master Bedroom and full bathroom, each tucked away in a corner Ė but each one airy and spacious on its own. Thereís a full kitchen up here too, as well as another cozy corner with a gorgeous timber bunk bed in it Ė it looks like itís a king-sized bed, too, so you could easily sleep six people up here. In keeping with the barn theme, all of the original posts remain intact as the structural elements, and they are fully visible in the Great Room, giving it a beautiful country atmosphere as well as all the warmth and beauty of a character home. There are plenty of closets as well, lots of storage areas for those who live here and anyone who wants to stay for a while.

The proud owner of the Rancho Milagro barn-home is a wonderful gentleman by the name of Ed Healey. Ed and his wife are thrilled with the way the architects and builders over at DC Builders put this lovely ranch home together. It had always been their dream to own a barn that was converted into a home, and now this dream has come true. The Healeys love to stay here whenever they want to get away from their main house and relax for a few days. When they hired DC Builders to build their dream, they gave them free reign on creativity! With this gorgeous result, they are so glad that they did. They couldn't have done a better job if they had planned it themselves!
