Today you will learn how to preserve your fresh produce using the method of freezing. First, it’s a must to wash them thoroughly using clean cold water and separate their parts like their leaves, stems, and pits. Chop them according to how you want them to be preserved. For vegetables, boil them for 3 minutes, and then place them into a bowl of ice water for 3 minutes as well. After you’re done with that, dry them up using a paper towel. You can now put them in an airtight plastic bag (we recommend zip-lock bags) before you throw them in your freezer.
The procedure for fruits is the same; only dropping them in boiling water should only take a minute or two followed by placing them in a bowl of ice water. Meanwhile, herbs must be submerged in boiling water just for 5 to 10 seconds before dipping them in ice water. Pat all of them dry after using a paper towel before you freeze them. You will be amazed to know that they could last for 4 to 6 months when they are frozen the right way.
There are so many fresh produce and other crops that you regularly use for cooking that can be frozen for them to last long. You don’t need artificial preservatives to make this work.
