The Strawberry is called ‘the queen of fruits” In Asian countries because it’s packed with health benefits. Compared to fruits like apples, oranges or bananas, strawberries have the highest amount of nutrients. These juicy heart-shaped delights have much more to offer beyond sweetness and flavor. I consider them a powerfood.
Its strawberry season! I love it! And that means heading to the grocery store or the local farmers market and grabbing a large flat of those delicious and juicy red berries. Mmm, so good. The only problem when you buy so many strawberries all at once is making sure that you use them all before they go bad. This can be a challenge but somehow I find a way to manage. For my household, this usually means making jams, preparing and serving daily strawberry fruit salads after dinner, or freezing them for our morning smoothies.
Strawberries offer many health benefits. The red coloring of strawberries contains a substance called anthocyanins, which stimulate the burning of stored fat. These anthocyanins boost short term memory by 100 percent in eight weeks. Strawberries are also noted to lower inflammation in the body. Along with those fantastic anthocyanins, strawberries are also packed with flavonoids, which are known to lower the risk of heart disease. Isn’t that great? Strawberries also are loaded with vitamins and minerals. Strawberries contain potassium, vitamin K and magnesium which are important for bone health. And finally, strawberries are filled with biotin, which helps build strong hair and nails. They also contain a substantial amount of antioxidants, which are specifically linked to the skin’s elasticity, helping to prevent premature wrinkles, sagging, and overall skin damage. Definitely reasons to incorporate these wonderful berries into your diet more, even during the ‘off-season’ don't you think?
Cookies typically contain flour, sugar, eggs, and either butter, cooking oil or another oil or fat, and often including ingredients such as raisins, oats, chocolate chips or nuts. Cookies can be served with milk, coffee or tea. Some popular cookies are chocolate chip cookies, peanut butter cookies, biscotti, shortbread cookies, brownies, digestive biscuit, snickerdoodle, sugar cookie, tea biscuit and wafers.
So I tried making this recipe about 2 months ago, and I can tell you this, I have made the recipe again over 3 times. Goes to show that this is a great recipe, because it really is. The balance of white chocolate with the tart but sweet red berries is really wonderful. And using the cream cheese to help add some chewy and soft texture, absolutely brilliant.
