The one item in this recipe that some may like to change is the green bell pepper. Green peppers are not always high on the list of foods that many people care for. Substituting a fresh red bell pepper is a great option. Red peppers are sweet unlike green peppers which can have a more bitter flavor when cooked. Peppers are a really good food to eat. To prepare your peppers for eating, cut them in half, remove the central core with the seeds then slice into the desired size for the dish you are preparing. When cutting and removing the core and seeds from your jalapeno pepper be mindful as it will leave your skin with a burning sensation that you can cause irritation to your face and eyes if you happen to touch your face after cutting the pepper.
It is advisable to wear thin hand gloves when handling hot peppers. Those little white seeds within on the core have capsaicin in them.
